Engineering Marathon and “Technologies of the Future” International Scientific and Educational Festival Held in Ethiopia

On December 24, an engineering marathon and large-scale scientific and educational festival “Technologies of the Future” were held at the Additional Education Center based at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), organized as part of Rossotrudnichestvo’s “Russian Engineering School” (RES) project.

The festival unfolded over two intensive days, each devoted to different aspects of engineering creativity.

The central event was an exhibition of participants’ projects, which featured:

  • innovative developments in the field of electrical engineering;
  • experimental work on electronics fundamentals;
  • original solutions using the Arduino platform;
  • working robotic models and control programs for them.

Exhibition visitors were able not only to see finished projects but also to communicate with their creators, learn about operating principles, and explore prospects for implementing the developments.

The second day of the festival was dedicated to practical creativity. Participants:

  • received current engineering challenges;
  • worked on solutions in teams;
  • applied an interdisciplinary approach to finding innovations;
  • prepared projects for final presentation.

The festival’s climax was the project defense session before a competent jury. Participants presented in detail:

  • technical features of their developments;
  • algorithms and operating principles of devices;
  • potential applications of inventions;
  • further development prospects for projects.

Organizers expressed gratitude to all participants and mentors for the high level of preparation, creative approach, and active participation in the event.

“The festival is not just a showcase of engineering achievements. It’s a platform where new ideas are born, international teams are formed, and foundations for future technological breakthroughs are laid. We saw how young people from different countries unite their efforts to solve complex technical challenges,” noted a representative from MGRI (operator of the RES project) in the closing remarks.
